The second game of the season was played against a young
and feisty Ormstown side playing in their first game of the year. Right off
the bat the Ducks took it to the Saracens with Matt Rzyzora running a
try in right off the kickoff. The Ducks dominated the first half and were
much more disciplined allowing for the majority of the half played in
Ormstown's end. Tom Moore scored a try off a driving lineout and Ben
Page scored off a nice set piece. The Second half continued the same way
with Moore adding another try off a stolen scrum on Ormstown's 5 meter line.
The game finished 27-5.

The Ducks season opener was held
this Saturday the 12th of May against Parc Olympic. It was a perfect day for
rugby as the sun was out but remained at a civilized temperature. After much
confusion about where the game would be played, it was settled that it would
take place in Brome Lake due Parc O's inability to secure a field for the
date and time. There was much trepidation in the Ducks camp as this was the
first game since being promoted to 1st Division and was against one of the
better teams of said division. Despite these concerns, the Ducks were able
to get things settled quickly as Matt Rzyzora outran most of Parc O's back
line and score an early try, that was not converted. Following that burst
the Ducks fell into some penalty trouble as was expected being in a
different division with the new "Smart Rugby" rules in place. Parc
O had three chances on penalty kicks but the Ducks had luck on side and none
of them connected. Nearing the end of the half Rzyzora ran in another try
and touched down where it could be easily converted. With
a short bench, the Ducks did not make any changes at the half while Parc O
was able some fresh legs on the field. That freshness was apparent as Parc O
was able to score two tries of their own and penalty kick to tie things up;
Tommy Bogan having made a kick earlier in the half. The game came to a
climactic finish with Parc O being awarded a penalty kick on the final play
off game. The kick was missed and the game ended in a 15-15 tie. |
